MUIC and Association of technology parks of Korea signed a cooperation agreement

Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center and the Association of technology parks of the Republic of Korea signed a cooperation agreement. The document reflects the joint plan of the parties to implement a long-term strategic partnership in the regional market in the field of information and communication technologies and the development of the startup ecosystem. 

 

The official ceremony with the participation of MUIC Director Farhad Ibragimov and Chairman of the Association of technology parks of Korea Jeyhun Lee was held on October 25 in Daegu.

 

The signing of the agreement will allow the parties to start implementing a number of agreements that were reached in July this year during the visit of representatives of the Association of technology parks of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan.

 

In particular, we are talking about the involvement of leading experts of the Association in the development of the concept of technology park at MUIC, its construction in Tashkent, as well as the preparation of Regulations on the management of the technology park. The technological experience of the Korean partners will allow to create a universal object of IT-infrastructure, which will become a platform for generating ideas, translating them into working, competitive products in the foreign market, as well as a platform for the development of startups in Uzbekistan. The structure of the technology park includes research laboratories, R&D centers, coworking and other components of the innovation ecosystem. 

 

The signed agreement also includes plans to train the responsible MUIC employees in the technology parks of Korea, expert assistance of Korean specialists in the preparation of the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On technology parks" and other by-laws.

 

During the event, the Director of MUIC Farhod Ibragimov made a report on "Prospects for the development of IT-parks in Uzbekistan", which was followed by a more detailed discussion of joint work on the implementation of plans reflected in the signed agreement.

 

Cooperation between MUIC and the Association of technology parks of the Republic of Korea is intensifying both the exchange of experience and the mobilization of additional resources. So, MUIC and Genbuk technology park (a member of the Association of technology parks of the Republic of Korea) have jointly filed an application for participation in the program Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), involving the allocation of additional funding by the government of the Republic of Korea for the joint work of both parties for the development of MUIC technology park.

 

The signing of the agreement is timed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Association of technology parks of the Republic of Korea.
